Allan Grant
(1919 – 2008)
Als us-amerikanischer Photojournalist war Allen Grant unter anderem für das Life Magazin tätig.
Die Leidenschaft für die Photographie entflammte bei Grant bereits in der Jugend, als er ein Modellflugzeug gegen eine Kamera eintauschte. Später als er für ein Fotolabor jobte und Abzüge für Alfred Eisenstaedt und Robert Capa entwickelte, war die Idee für seinen Traumberuf da.
Im Jahr 1945 begann Grant beim LIFE Magazin, das ihm ein Jahr darauf eine Festanstellung als Staff-Photograph gab.

Er photographierte Richard Nixon und traf Marilyn Monroe für ein Photoshooting in ihrem Haus. Die Bilder wurden am 3. August des Jahres 1962 veröffentlicht – in der Woche als MM starb, lagen die Magazine im Handel aus.

While he was known for his humorous photographs, LIFE photographer Allan Grant was also perfectly capable of capturing scenes of pure beauty. In his time covering the entertainment world for LIFE from 1947 to the late 1960s, one of Grant’s most enduring celebrity photos is the one above showing Hollywood screen goddesses Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
Hepburn and Kelly were backstage during the 28th Academy Awards held on March 21, 1956 at the RKO Pantages Theater in Hollywood. While neither of both actresses were up for Oscars, there seems to be an air of tension between the two at first look. K
elly and Hepburn were there to present the Best Actor Award (for Ernest Borgnine in Marty) and Best Film (also for Marty) respectively. The two actually got on really well in real life.
